An inside bet covers numbers on the main roulette grid — straight-up on one number, split across two, street across three, corner touching four, or line spanning six. Inside bets pay higher multipliers because fewer numbers win.

An outside bet covers larger groups outside the numbered grid — red or black, odd or even, high or low, dozens, or columns. These bets win more often but pay smaller multipliers, usually one-to-one or two-to-one.

La partage is a French roulette rule that returns half your even-money stake when zero lands. If you bet on red, black, odd, even, high or low and the ball hits zero, you lose only half instead of the full amount.

Single-zero roulette has one green zero pocket, giving the wheel thirty-seven pockets total. European and French tables use single-zero wheels, which offer better odds than double-zero American wheels that have thirty-eight pockets.

A straight-up bet places your full stake on one number; if that exact number wins, you collect a thirty-five-to-one payout. It's the highest-paying roulette bet because only one pocket out of thirty-seven wins on a single-zero wheel.
